Tess + Josef | Lopez Island Little Wedding

October 15th, 2022 | Lopez Island, Washington

A love bigger than the ocean.

For Tess & Josef.

Below are some of my most favorite moments I’ve been able to witness as a wedding photographer.

Tess & Josef brought their favorite people to a tiny island- Lopez, pop. 2,177. I’d say it’s Josef’s hometown, but there’s not really even a town on the island, but you get the sentiment. Every person who was in attendance was there because of the impact they had on shaping Tess & Josef as people and as a couple.

For their ceremony, everyone hiked out to a point on the ocean, single file on a trail through grassy knolls and dramatic vistas. Somewhere beautiful, on the sea. One of the first things Tess shared with me when she reached out was that they wanted to get married here so they could be close to Jose’s mom, who several people said could be felt throughout the day, in the woods and certainly through the words of a poem she wrote, read by Josef’s sister that detailed this place by name.

As they wound through this place, all their people in tow, I was overwhelmed at the profound connection of place, landscape, spirit & community. I feel all of that when I look at this photograph, and I hope they do too.

Thank you for the privilege of creating with you, Tess & Josef.

Thanks for making it this far. If you’re interested in creating together for your Lopez Island wedding, or somewhere else dear to your heart, reach out below.
