Amangiri Slot Canyon Elopement Adventure

Couple in slot canyon at Amangiri

LUNAR NEW YEAR

She wore red. John & I were in awe. We strolled the property of Amangiri marveling at the architecture before embarking out on a hike through a nearby slot canyon. With grace & ease, these two navigated the sandstone the day after they were wed, without a care in the world. This is desert magic.

Couple walks through desert at Amangiri

The day before (scroll through their elopement day here)these two were married in a white sandstone arch, that seemed like it had been carved just for them. Of course it took millions of years, rain, ice, and wind to carve but elopement days have a way of making me romanticize things. The day after was Lunar New Year, which Shannon commemorated by wearing red. Her intention with everything is admirable- from the way she curated a vendor team of female-owned businesses, to how we planned the day to unfold. One of the most beautiful things about eloping is it gives you mental space to think on exactly how you want to spend your money and your time, instead of worrying so much about who is going to sit next to who at dinner…

On our hike, it felt like at every turn the desert grew more spectacular, more magnificent, more intense. Like love? I told you these days make me see everything differently.

Hope you love scrolling through these moments, maybe they’ll remind you of the way the red earth smells when a storm is growing.

xxHaley

Safety Note: Always be cautious when exploring slot canyons. Check the weather as flash floods can be very dangerous. This was a slot we did not traverse down, and we let someone know exactly where we’d be and when we’d return. Respect the desert.
